Age-Friendly Assessment and Action Plan

The City of Quesnel is designated as a BC Age-Friendly Community.

In 2017 the Quesnel Age-Friendly Committee was formed and the Quesnel Age-Friendly Action Plan was developed.  From that plan, on November 4, 2019, the North Cariboo Seniors’ Council was incorporated under the Societies Act.

The NCSC’s purposes are as follows:

  • To provide an information hub for the community to access services and resources that support seniors;
  • To collaborate with other senior organizations to provide leadership on important issues facing seniors; and
  • To advocate for seniors and to maintain a liaison with municipal, provincial and federal governments on issues of concern to seniors.

The NCSC has leveraged multiple grant opportunities, allowing them to provide a wide range of services benefiting our local seniors, such as meal delivery for isolated seniors, yard and snow maintenance, taxi vouchers and more.  The City of Quesnel looks forward to working with the Seniors’ Council through our Memorandum of Understanding to maintain and grow seniors’ services in our community.
