Who we are and what we do

The City of Quesnel is committed to providing municipal services in the most practical and productive way. The Public Works Department is the City's largest department and employs as many as 55 employees in the summer and 39 employees during the winter months.

The Department's functions and staff are divided into sections including: Water and Sewer (utilities); Mechanical Maintenance; Garbage; Recycling, and Landfill (solid waste); Park Maintenance; Road and Street Maintenance; and Transportation Operations (airport and transit services).

Fleet

Mechanical Maintenance services all of the City's trucks and equipment. Welding and fabricating are common duties performed by this department, home to three mechanics and one welder who maintain more than 80 pieces of equipment, plus another 17 at the Quesnel Regional Airport. This includes more than 30 pickup trucks, five one tonne trucks, three tandem axle dump trucks, two sand trucks, three loaders, two backhoes, one grader, and one landfill compactor.
