QUESNEL CITY COUNCIL>Scott Elliott
I was born in Hamilton Ontario. Our family moved to Vancouver Island when I was 9. Growing up in Parksville was wonderful. A block away from the beach and arena usually kept me quite busy. I started volunteering at an early age (12 - minor hockey) and became part of the working force at 14 . After graduating high school I moved to Toronto for a short time. This was a great experience and I was able to prove to myself that big cities, suits and sales was not where I wanted to be.
Back to B.C. and a weekend in Whistler that turned into a 12-year stay. This is where I met my wonderful wife Amber! This is also where I took my love of the outdoors and angling to a new level. I taught myself how to fly-fish. It didn't take long 'til I was guiding people from all over the world! During this time, Amber and I started fishing in the Cariboo every chance we got. Driving all night to fish for a couple of days was a regular occurrence.
Then it was off to the Sunshine Coast. We started Trout Tales Fly Fishing Adventures. I also got very involved with different schools and parks and recreation. If there was a course I could get involved with to help different communities, I did. Fly tying, fly fishing made easy, kicks for kids (soccer 4-5 year olds), lacrosse, teen nights, summer camps, floor hockey, ice hockey (referee in chief) counselling, restitution (justice circles), Roots of Empathy and more.
Next we were to follow our dreams to Quesnel. Wide open spaces, endless angling opportunities and a little house on an acre. Immediately I went back to volunteering with minor hockey and the Millionaires. So, now I'm at the government liquor store and Amber is enrolled in our college to be a nurse. Add to that fulfilling a dream of being elected to civic politics!
I am proud to represent the people of Quesnel and look forward to meeting all the challenges of the future.
